Golf Balls Were Originally Made Out Of Wood

The name of this giant 122-acre course is the Shag Harbour UFO Golf Course and it is located in Nova Scotia. It was built by a man named Gerry Taylor and it is said to be the most unusual golf course in the world. The course is made up of 18 holes, each of which is designed to look like a different UFO. The holes are also located in different areas of the course, including a swamp, a pond, and a forest. To give you an idea of how big this golf course is, the green of the 18th hole alone would be sufficient for six regular-sized golf holes, while the putting surface on the first hole is so large that it could accommodate 12 standard-sized courses.

The Oldest Recorded Golf Match Was Played In 1774

In addition to being the oldest recorded golf match, it is also considered to be one of the strangest. The match was played between two Scottish men, Allan Robertson and Tom Morris. The two men were playing for a wager of £100 and the match ended in a draw. What made this match so strange was that both players used the same ball throughout the entire game. This is because there was no rule at the time that stated that each player had to use their ball. Also,  at that time, the golf courses were much shorter than they are today and most of the shots were played from within 100 yards of the hole.

Golf Was Banned In Russia For Almost 70 Years

The ban began in 1917, just after the Russian Revolution, and it wasn’t lifted until 1986. This means that Russians were not able to play golf during the entire time of the Soviet Union. The ban was supposedly put in place because the communists believed that golf was a game for the bourgeoisie and that it was not appropriate for the working class. However, many people believe that the real reason for the ban was that the communists were afraid that the game of golf would help to unite the Russian people against them.
